Typhlosion is a Fire-type Pokémon species from the Johto region. It has a juvenile stage called Cyndaquil, and an intermediary stage called Quilava.

Biology[]

Members of this species are stout mammalian creatures. Like most Fire-types, they can produce flames from their bodies. All three stages appear to be facultative bipeds, although Quilava seems to be the most quadrupedal. They all have cream-colored undersides and dark teal backsides. This species has a rather unbalanced gender ratio of seven males to one female.

Cyndaquil has also been nicknamed the "Fire Mouse Pokémon", while Quilava and Typhlosion are known as "Volcano Pokémon" due to their eruptive disposition.

Cyndaquil[]

Cyndaquil

The "Fire Mouse Pokémon" is a timid, 50 cm tall creature, and can curl up in a ball to protect itself. It has a pointed snout, stubby digit-less limbs, and no tail. Its hindlimbs are protected by a single nail, whereas its shorter forelimbs aren't.

Cyndaquil walks bipedally for the most part. Its eyes are kept always closed, and the fire on its back burns frequently when it feels upset or agitated.

Quilava[]

Quilava

The second stage, Quilava, is a badger-like creature with pointed ears and red eyes. Its feet have three digits, without any visible claws or nails. It usually walks quadrupedally. It has flames burning on its head and lower back, and its fur its naturally non-flammable.

Unlike the timid Cyndaquil, Quilava is usually an intimidating, nimble, and boisterous opponent in battle.

Typhlosion[]

The final stage, Typhlosion, is a human-sized badger-like mammal and a facultative biped, with bright flames burning on the back of its neck. Its hindlimbs still have three digits, but its forelimbs now have five.

When enraged, Typhlosion becomes so hot that it can set fire to anything that touches it, and it's known for creating explosive blasts and hiding itself into a shimmering heat haze.
