This insect hybrid was created by Laura Tyler for the Face Off Season 3 challenge based on the TV show Grimm.
The artists were tasked with designing and building a creature based on a crime scene. Laura's scene was covered in webs and showed a victim who, prior to death, had been collecting pollen samples, and had an allergic reaction on the skin. All of these clues suggested a venomous insect-like aggressor. This creature is a human who transforms into a beetle-like humanoid and spins web with its arms. It is described as being mid-transformation, which is why its wings are small.
The judges were positively impressed with it and praised its color palette particularly. It eventually won the episode's challenge.
