a photo of a Gigantopithecus

A Gigantopithecus is an extinct genus of large asian apes. The largest species, Gigantopithecus blackii, is the largest primate that ever lived. Fanged, aggressive Gigantopithecuses appear in the 2007 movie Blood Monkey.

History[]

They remained undiscovered in a jungle in Africa perfessor Hamilton was the first to discover these species still existed and proceeded to capture one of them but failed.

Appearance[]

They resemble a black-haired Sasquatch with visible pectoral muscles. Like Sasquatch they walk fully upright.

Powers[]

They are strong enough to rip off a human arm and knock a tree over.

Behavior[]

They are very intelligent, ambushing prey from the bushes. Rather than randomly killing people, they attack people where they can kill them without letting other people know they're there. They let a person go as a warning.

Notes[]

  • Despite resembling Gorillas, their closest living relative is the Orangutan.
  • While Gigantopithecuses are native to Asia, and the movie being filmed in Thailand, the movie takes place in Africa.
  • Despite being a predator in the film, Gigantopithecus in real life was a herbivore.
