The Giant Bees figure among the several daikaiju-sized creatures discovered living in a lost valley within a mountainous chain in tropical Africa.
As it turns out, the sunlight passing through the hazy clouds that cover the valley is responsible for triggering a chemical mutation in the life forms that venture into it, resulting in their gigantic growth.
The giant bees captured Captain Carl Majors and Dr. Quinn Darien when they were exploring the valley. They brought the explorers to their hive and tried to entrap them within the wax of one of their honeycomb chambers, possibly intending to store them as food.
Their beehive is a giant conical structure on the ground next to the Giant Antlion's pit. Like regular bees, they can be scared away by smoke, which allowed Godzooky to use his smoke breath on them and gave time for Brock and Pete to rescue Majors and Quinn from the beehive.
